Gala Day 2016

Welcome to 2016, a bit belatedly but nonetheless hearty!

At the AGM, (held in the Pier, courtesy of Donald Clark, who continues as a Director), George Willoughby announced his retirement from the Pier Association, in order to devote more time to his family! We offer him grateful thanks for all his hard work over many years. George’s retirement required two(!) new Directors to be elected and we are pleased to welcome Steve Nielan and Anne Hewitt. Steve will act as Secretary/Treasurer and Anne will concentrate on Sales and Presentation. Graeme Hogg continues as Chairman and Geoff Newton, having retired by rotation was re-elected for a further two years. The Board is in good heart and looks forward to another successful year serving the Pier and the local community.

Gala Day will be on 2nd July this year and there will be trade stalls and food as usual. There will also be a short cruise by PS Waverley of about one hour mid-afternoon prices for which we anticipate will remain as last year, i.e. £7 for adults, £3 for U-18s, primary school children FREE. Tickets will be on sale at the Pier on the day and in local outlets beforehand. This is our main fund-raiser so we hope for good weather and good support!

PS Waverley has a new Skipper this year. The first visit will be on Saturday, 28th May between about 2.45/4.00 pm. Thereafter, weather permitting, she will call on Saturdays from June 18th to August 27th and finally, a brief call on October 16th. For full details of Waverley’s sailings, see their website.
