This blog aims to highlight the history of Tighnabruaich Pier and also to outline recent steps taken to address the difficulties of conserving such a significant structure: essentially the reasons for establishing a Pier Association, together with what has so far been achieved and what is planned.
The restored Waiting Room is available for use, along with the former Piermaster’s office, where a DVD of Clyde steamer archive film can be viewed, together with photographs of steamers and old Tighnabruaich scenes; we have several interesting new ones this year.
Pier souvenirs will be available for sale on Waverley days, as usual including copies of the steamer photographs and the new ‘Steamer’ ‘fridge magnets, which have proved to be very popular; again, we have some new ones for your delectation and delight!
We are grateful to everyone who supports the project with time or money; donations may be made to our Chairman, Mr. Graeme Hogg. We look forward to seeing you on the Pier!
good to hear the waverley will be back, I wrote to Nicola Sturgeon suggesting using the Balmoral on Dunoon – Gourock run but it was turned down. Hope we get a good summer. Look forward to seeing your display at the pier.
